HALLAM 3 V HEMSWORTH MW 1
NCEL DIVISION 1 @ SANDYGATE LANE 7 APRIL 2015 7.45PM

SANDYGATE ON A NICE SPRING EVENING |
Hemsworth were left ruing missed first half chances as Hallam stormed back with the man advantage following the sending off of Lee Swift just before half time. The game was awash with chances and saw some quality shots and saves which could have seen the score line being much larger at the end of 90 minutes.
The journey to the heights of Sheffield was made via Bramall Lane as The Blades prepared for their league encounter with Doncaster Rovers. It reminded me of a fair few years ago when professional football was the highlight of my match attendances. Now though and as over the last 15 years or so I was more than happy to be going past to take in some real football with the small band of the non-league family who would be in attendance at Hallam FC.

WHO'S HIDING FROM THE BLOG? |
Sandygate Lane was arrived at via a First number 51 and following payment of entrance fee I met up with a few friends, Chris Wintle big non league follower of this vicinity, Ian Cox referee and NCEL official, Brian Bradley who still puts a column together for The Star-but we need him back on Radio Sheffield! Dave Morrell from the NCEL was also in attendance as was Wayne Biggins former Burnley, Norwich, Man City and Stoke to name just a few of his clubs.

JUST THE GREETNGS TO GO |
The ground has been covered in a blog a few weeks back so after a few pictures I managed to sample a chip cob from the Hallam snack bar.

REFEREE DREW DUTTON PREPARES HIS TEAM |
The game started at a frantic place and with Hemsworth kicking down the slope they seemed to use this to their advantage and indeed took the lead after 10 minutes when Nash Connolly drove home for a neat finish. Hallam pulled it back to 1 all when Michal Blythen beat the offside trap and fired home past visiting keeper Jack Bentley. Hemsworth seemed to be stung into life and before half time had three excellent chances to extend their lead. Firstly Nicholas Guest had a superb effort saved a full stretch by the Hallam keeper Jack Dennison and then moments later he fired across goal and just past the far post. The skill of Dominque Blair saw him weave past a couple of Hallam defenders and when his shot looked goal bound Dennison again saved well.
Hemsworth should have been away now and but for the home number ones save they may have been their task though was made harder five minutes before half time when Lee Swift was red carded for a kick out.
Hallam started the second period looking the stronger and it was Jack Hargreaves who tested Jack Bentley in the visitors goal before the home side took the lead when Daniel Flynn hit a sweet drive from just inside the right angle of the penalty box. The game was put beyond doubt with ten minutes to go with a goal that would have graced any game when Blythen got the ball down 25 yards out and lashed home an unstoppable top corner finish, for his second and Hallam's third.
As the evening grew chillier this game had kept most of the crowd entertained and when referee Drew Dutton blew for time had been one of the more interesting games of the last few weeks.
