MORTON WONDER STRIKE SEALS FINAL VICTORY FOR HANDSWORTH PARRAMORE

HANDSWORTH PARRAMORE 2 V HALLAM 1
HKL NORTH MIDLAND DEV LEAGUE CUP FINAL @ STAVELEY MWFC
6 MAY 2015

REFEREE SEAN RICHARDSON LINES UP WITH HIS TEAM AND THE TWO CAPTAINS
Matt Morton secured the cup for the Ambers with a wonder strike 5 minutes from time after Hallam had took an early first half lead only for the scores to be levelled just after half time.
On a very unspring like day it was always a pleasure to visit Inkersall Rd and I think as mentioned before they always try to do things well so there was a full bar, catering facilities and a more than adequate programme too.  Chips and pea cob sampled, again, it was time to catch up with a few people.
MR IAN COX POINTS THE WAY FOWARD
The venerable Mr Ian Cox was in attendance and it was again good to catch up with all things football.  Brian Bradley was also in attendance as was Rich Stephenson from Dronfield Town.  There was a good turn out from both club including Handsworth Chairman Pete Whitehead and Max Ross showing their support to the Under 19's.  Also there Andrew Saunders and Pete Craggs of AFC Mansfield who stage tomorrow nights U21 final between Staveley MW and Buxton.
There was also a few minutes to catch up again with tonight's referee Sean Richardson who had taken charge of last weeks Notts Senior Cup Final at Field Mill and tonight I thought had a good game keeping it flowing without unnecessary stoppages, although both benches especially Handsworth's would not agree with my assessment I think.
HALLAMS DANNY WHITE IN CONTROL
The game started well for Hallam when they took the lead after just 11 minutes a free kick off the left was missed by the Handsworth defence and Josh Birds pounced to steer the ball home.  The remainder of the half was a ding dong battle with both sides fighting to claim every ball and every inch of space.
1-0 HALLAM JOSH BIRDS
We arrived at half time with Hallam ahead but it wasn't long into the second period before Handsworth level.  The pressure was building when Ryan Carroll saw his effort hooked off the line by Nick Senior and the on 62 minutes it was Carroll again who was involved and he swept home a lovely finish into the bottom left hand corner of Jack Farthing's goal.
As Parramore pushed on Farthing had to be alert again when he came out to block Josh Dacre who had stormed through to get a shot away.
REFEREE RICHARDSON
Both sides were going for it now and just as on this cold and chilly May evening it looked like the crowd, totalling around 125, would be staying behind for an extra 30 minutes at least, enter stage centre Matt Morton.  The number 17 had come on as a replacement for James Dawes but with his hours worth of contribution to the game and this winning goal he secured himself the man of the match award.  The goal ahh yes its a strike that would have graced any game never mind the European semi-final being played in the bar.  The ball fell to Morton just outside the box and he struck a superb effort on the volley into the bottom left hand corner which left all around glued to the spot.  Cue the celebrations with a massive pile on from all Parramore players indeed the joyful scenes were that full Ambers keeper Josh Jones suffered a nose injury which resulted in a lengthy delay.
The remaining minutes were seen out by Handsworth and a league and cup double had been secured against, tonight, a very strong Hallam side who must go away with a great credit for their performance in the final.
Once again a very entertaining evening at Staveley MW FC featuring a good game and a wonderful finish with Matt Morton's winning goal.
