TEVERSAL AND BRIGGERS BATTLE OUT A DRAW

TEVERSAL 1 V WORSBROUGH BRIDGE ATHLETIC 1
NCEL 1 @ CARNARVON ST
1 SEPT 2015 7.45PM
FLOODLIT VIEW TOWARDS THE FAMOUS SUPERMARKET SHELTERS END
This was a full blooded and battling performance from both sides that produced the right result it would have been an injustice for either side to have lost following their efforts over the evening.  In a fully committed and pacey game, well refereed by Paul Mathewson, with Oliver Fearon giving the visitors the lead before Gary Atkins levelled things up for Teversal.
So like waiting for a bus none for a while and then two come along at once it was off to Teversal for the second midweek game running so I will as per last week leave out the ground description.
VIEW FROM THE STANTON HILL TOWARDS TEVERSAL FC
Needless to say I enjoy visiting Carnarvon St and again there was the chance to sample the delights of the snack bar.  An early arrival saw a departure at nearby Stanton Hill for a little wander around and the former mining village is now a mix of private and council housing which from the one area offers a good panoramic view of the lights arising from the ground surrounded by the colourful properties around the area.
WELCOME TO TEVERSAL FC
Its also good to note that Teversal always seem well organised with the turnstile manned from early and the bar and snack bar set up and ready.  Also of credit is that the colourful programme is added to by the posting of the 'line ups' around the ground so making the whole visit easier and welcoming.
So with an early arrival there was the usual chance to catch up with a few people and move onto the snack bar for the usual chip cob and peas.  As kick off approached there was time for a catch up with the always amiable Rudy Funk the AFC Mansfield manager who has seen his team have a good start and it would appear to be playing some lovely football at present.  Always a pleasure to speak to Rudy who has time for fans and local football followers alike.
Teversal were without the injured Dave Cockerill and tonight ex Miller Jake Tittley reverted to the bench.  The game would start in nice end of summer conditions so much better than last weeks poor weather before the Hemsworth game.
The first 45 minutes of this game showed tremendous commitment and were really fast and furious.  Both sides had chances
On 24 minutes the best chance was created by Fearon's header which Danny Barke cleared off the line to deny the visitors front man.
LETS GET CLOSE JOE LONG [BLUE] WORSBROUGH AND DANNY BURKE TEVERSAL
The blog arrived at half time under the impression that there would not be a glut of goals tonight but thoroughly enjoying the effort of both sides.
The second half started with Fearon seeing his effort well saved by Dale Sheppard in the home goal and as the ball fell to Andy Broadbent it looked certain the advantage would double but he fired over from close range.
The game continued to enthral and on 65 minutes it was Fearon again who was the threat and this time he gave Athletic when he switched the ball from his left foot to right and fired home from 20 yards into the bottom right hand corner of the goal.
REFEREE PAUL MATHEWSON GOOD GAME TONIGHT
If Teversal could not find an equaliser in the remaining minutes it would have been an injustice from a game they had contributed so much too and thankfully they did secure a lead 8 minutes from time when Jermaine Jatu weaved away on the right hand side and his low cross found Atkins who from earlier denier this time fired home to level the scores.
With three minutes remaining Fearon, who had been in a lot of the visitors action, was cautioned for a late challenge but this was I believe the only caution of the night.  This has to be of credit to referee Mathewson who had controlled this encounter with a confidence and a ability to tell players about his decisions.  Many other referees would have been stopping play and producing cards but he kept this game flowing superbly well, credit were credit is due.
An entertaining evening out in North Notts but with a warning of colder night to come for us footy followers as the time turned 8.30pm it got increasingly colder.
