EASOM HAT TRICK SEES SHERWOOD TO FIVE

SHERWOOD COLLIERY 5 V SOUTHWELL CITY 0
CMFL SOUTH AT DEBDALE PARK
8 APRIL 2016 --- 7.45PM
VIEW FROM THE BANK
Goal machine Lee Easom was at it again with a hat trick against basement club Southwell City in this comprehensive 5-0 victory which could have been bigger but for an excellent performance from visiting number 1 Michael Oxborrow.
An enlightening journey via public transport to the Rufford Arms from base the feature being a wide selection of characters aboard the Pronto service.  Following a short walk to Debdale Park our arrival at just short of 7pm gave us a chance to take a couple of pictures and obtain a programme which were soon in short supply but credit to Sherwood they ran off some further copies for half time for those who missed out.  Having covered the ground on many occasions and for the blog at the end of last season I wont go over old ground details except to say the club now have there floodlights installed and they shone brightly from kick off time and the ground now has wider hard standing on three sides which is a nice addition too.  The far side of the ground were the dug outs are situated is now security fenced off from the country park adding to the ground developments.
MAIN SPECTATOR SIDE WITH SMALL COVERED ACCOMODATION
This Friday evening extravaganza saw a fair scattering of non league glitterati included in this Pete and Dave from the spire town and thankfully the former gave me a lift back to base at the final whistle, thanks!
Kick off time watch again saw a late start at 7.49pm with both teams at the ground on time evening kick offs continue to fail to hit allotted started times.
The first half saw Sherwood build up a 3-0 lead and barring Oxborrow's keeping it would have been more indeed he pulled off three excellent saves shortly after the home side had gone 3 up.  Sherwood started at a pace with Julian Topliss hitting a post and the two follow up efforts amazingly struck the same post.  The first goal came on the quarter of an hour mark when Mark Carter fired home after cutting in off the right hand side.  It was 2-0 eight minutes later when a lovely move resulted in Dale Gilliatt scoring from a central position.  Sherwood continued the free flowing football and on 28 minutes the third arrived when Topliss fed the ball into the box for Easom to slot home his first.
LIGHTS SHINING BRIGHT AT DEBDALE
Following a warm drink break in the ample club house the teams were soon out and Sherwood were back scoring through Easom's second after 53 minutes and then the goal of the game with twenty minutes remaining.  It was Sherwood's fifth and Easom's hat trick thanks to a glorious strike from 25 yards that flew past the outstretched Oxborrow in the Southwell goal.
A comfortable win for Sherwood but with credit to Southwell and their keeper who made a game of it and at times may have notched a couple of goals too.
Thanks to Pete a nice early arrival back to base and no moans about late buses!
