COMMUNITY SPIRIT WRAPS UP THE SEASON WITH 3 POINTS

BASFORD UTD COMMUNITY 4 REAL UTD 2
NSL PREMIER @ GREENWICH AVE
11 MAY 2017 --- 6.30PM

A highly entertaining affair for this end of season Notts Senior League encounter saw Real push Basford all the way but in the last 11 minutes it was the home side who took the points.
The end of season beckons and with the chance of a Thursday night game the opportunity to take up an early kick off was of interest and as fellow footy fan Dave said at the game 'is this a new visit'?  Fair comment because Basford's 3g was staging a youth game and this match was allocated an outside pitch at Basford's premises, indeed the outer pitches are quite smart and railed off which makes for the smart feel surrounding the club.
Upon arrival there was a lack off players or any appearance of senior game representatives and after a quick call to check this game was not on and after a moments thought I had not researched this one well enough before leaving base at 4.30pm.  Shortly afterwards Dave arrived and we found out the players were changing above the clubhouse in the old changing rooms.
REFEREE PHIL TOWERS
Having secured the teams from the officials there was a late change and credit here to referee Phil Towers who brought the team sheet out with him and made me aware of the changes, thank you!
To the game and Basford took the lead after20 minutes when Mal Podier found the far right corner, 2 minutes later Real were level when Tristram Whitman fired home.  With 8 minutes to half time Real took the lead Alex Cook crossed for Ben Douglas to finish from close range.  Basford were level on 44 minutes when a poor back pass allowed in Tyrell Shannon Lewis who lofted the ball over the real keeper Elliott James.
BASFORD UTD COMMUNITY ON THE ATTACK
The second half continued to be an entertaining effort and both sides were trying to play some floor based football but it was the home side who scored twice late on to win the 3 points.  On 79 minutes Ezra Kitungano saw his shot pushed away by James and Emmanuel Fadeyi was on hand to give Basford the lead.  With 3 minutes remaining Community wrapped it up with the goal of the game a sweet controlled 25 yards drive from Gideon Boateng.
THIS TIME ITS REAL IN ACTION
For an end of season fixture this provided plenty of entertainment for the small crowd their to enjoy.  Return journey was all comfortable with the necessary 2 changes made an base arrived at 11pm.
