ROLL OUT THE GREEN CARPET FOR EASTWOOD COMMUNITY FC

CORONATION PARK EASTWOOD ROLLS OUT THE GREEN CARPET
CORONATION PARK WITH NEW 3G CARPET
The blog visited Coronation Park, home of Eastwood Community FC, in February and the grass pitch was torn up alongside lots of other developments and now just over 2 months on the ground has new floodlights and is in the last stages of having the new 3g carpet put in place.
The blog covered the early stages of this exciting investment in a feature on February if you would like to take a look at it but this was a chance to see how developments have progressed.  Although I thought I would have missed the latter stages it would appear the wet weather had delayed proceedings but on a lovely spring morning the blog made the trip over to Coronation Park to final probably just the last 20 yards awaiting their new 'green grass'.
JUST A LITTLE TO GO AND THE PITCH WILL BE FULLY IN PLACE
The new floodlights, 4 poles either side, were now in place as was a breeze blocked retaining wall topped off with green meshed fencing that is of the standard type for all instalments like this.  This will be of course an excellent development for sport locally and for Eastwood Community Fc and guarantee local non league fans a definite game in the bad weather next season.  Initially Eastwood had desired to play their last few CMFL games back at Coronation Park but these have had to be moved to nearby Kimberly over two venues while the final touches are made at Chewton St.
The blog is certainly looking forward to seeing a match here next season and the only down side is now the overall slope, which had been previously reduced, looks non existent it does create at the Chewton St end of the ground an 8 feet or so drop over the barrier tot he pitch which is not a problem and offers a good view still.
VIEW FROM THE TOWN END AT CORONATION PARK
The down side is that this drop from either side of the halfway line to the opposite end becomes  upwards of an 8 foot view over the top of the fencing as you go below pitch level, but its a minor because if ever Eastwood reach large crowds through league progression the terracing will I guess be lifted and re sited.
Overall though an interesting visit, bring on the new season and the chance to see Eastwood Community Fc in action on their new pitch and hopefully the club can benefit from full community involvement.
